In the non-profit world (and life in general), things do not always go as planned. After our original Thanksgiving meal plans for our families in need fell through, we were left scrambling last moment, and feeling anxious we may not be able to provide what we had said we would. Keeping our word is so important- not only for the integrity of our organization, but our of respect and understanding for our families. Thankfully, our community came through and showed their support for what we do, and who we serve.
Thanks to your help, we were able to meet and exceed our fundraising goals. We fed 50 of our most in need meals we are proud of. Our director spent 9 hours cooking, and another 3 coordinating deliveries. Thanks to you, we were able to provide roasted chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, homemade baked beans, home made cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, corn bread, collard greens and Mac and cheese ingredients, corn, and apple crisp.
Our families received quality meals with quality ingredients that they could enjoy in their own homes, with their families, making memories together and having that typical experience. It’s all about inclusion, opportunity, and empowerment. For our youth, these are memories of childhood experiences not impacted by trauma. They’re important milestones and experiences. Inclusion matters. They didn’t have to go to soup kitchens, or grab fast-food. They didn’t have to sacrifice food and budgets for the rest of the month to make an elaborate and expensive meal possible. They didn’t have to give up already precious and limited time to cooks
We could not do what we do without your help and support. Thank you for valuing what we do and who we serve. Thank you for wanting to be a part of support and sacristy for these often overlooked and underserved families. Thank you for caring. They matter.
We serve exposed and vulnerable trauma- impacted families that so often fall through the cracks. Please consider continuing your support for our organization by donating.
